– CVLT NATION“The social issues that Sanity Control address in their new album reflect a hardcore/punk attitude about the wretched state of affairs in the current world, and the music pulls from hardcore as well, melded with thrash to create full-bore Crossover chaos. It’s perhaps ironic that they call themselves Sanity Control, because their music is the kind that makes it easy to lose your mind while listening. And if you were in the pit, you’d probably lose body control too.”
– NO CLEAN SINGING“The songs are lean, no nonsense, short sharp songs. They come at you like a series of hard, rapid punches to body. There is only one pace, and that is F.A.S.T, all songs done and over in under 3 minutes, so the pummeling is over quickly, and you are left in a bloody heap.”
– Metal-Temple 8/10“Fully loaded with eight explosive high-octane rounds of hardcore punk-infused thrash, War on Life grooves with just the right amount of hooks and menacing riffs coupled with heaviness whilst also having a keen understanding of how to totally utilize the riff to pummel the listener into submission. This album is a nuclear bomb waiting to be unleashed and a screaming voice aimed at a broken, corrupt and battered system. Lyrically, the album is an angry war cry at the overwhelming amount of social issues the world is experiencing; be it poverty, the government, the media… You name it, it’s more than likely on this record. It’s an impressive feat for Sanity Control, as the album only has a 19-minute runtime with each song clocking in at around two minutes. Not only that, but there’s a huge live feel across the record, and it sounds like it was recorded by the whole band in the same room, feeding off of that energy and anger.”
– Metal-Rules.com“Waiting for a new record, after the almost addictive demo, has clearly been worth it, because Sanity Control continue where they left off a year ago and continue to combine energetic old school crossover sounds with the massive sound of current Thrash Metal bands. So if you like Broken Bones and Excel as much as Municipal Waste or Iron Reagan, you will definitely like the War on Life LP and won’t want to put the record aside any more.”
– Transcended Music Blog“Thrash bands like DRI and Cryptic Slaughter bridged the years between hardcore failing and grindcore appearing. They took punk back to its roots as total alienation and made some great music by picking up the metal style of riffing, which is why they were described as crossover bands. Sanity Control seeks to revive those years. If you can imagine M.O.D. with more Slayer in the riffs but DRI-styled teen riot shout vocals, you have the basics here; vocal melodies appear once or twice a song and guide transitions, but otherwise, these are riff-chorus songs with a few budget riffs here and there to spice things up.”
– Death Metal Underground
“On fire throughout, it’s thrashing energy in short and sharp bursts across the 8 tracks of War on Life. A complete lack of nonsense, Sanity Control bring plenty of aggression. Although it doesn’t exactly wow at first, it quickly takes hold and compels the head to start banging furiously. With punk spirit, embellished by the snarling and snarky vocal style, the energy is kept consistently high. That the overall length is only about 20 minutes ensures there’s no time to get desensitised to War on Life’s violence. Easy to disseminate, easy to stomach and easy to replay over and over again.”
– Grizzly Butts
“Overall, the thrash crossover act has made a rather large stamp with their strong debut full length, and I’m sure Sanity Control will manifest itself into a stable contender for the modern thrash scene with this release.”
– Invicta Magazine
“An album that mixes Thrash Metal with a powerful load of Hardcore and Punk and that tries to scream about society or, as the title of the album shows, about the war in life…I encourage you to listen to this album, Thrash Metal fans are going to love it.”
– Necromance Magazine
“This is straight fist thrash, no frills or great guitar solos, just musical violence!”
– Dargedik
