“Bludgeoning, intense doom, harsh yet sophisticated. A surreal experience.”
– Terry Savastano (Grief, Come to Grief)
“In its grandest form, sludge metal holds onto doom’s larger-than-life flair for the dramatic while adding a sense of harsh, suffocating ugliness. This is certainly the case of newcomers Boghaunter, who create mood-setting, almost ethereal, atmospheres before crushing them with feedback-covered riffs and raw vocals.”
– Decibel Magazine
“Constellation Vows” proves to be an emotionally intense and panoramic musical journey. The music is poignant, hauntingly beautiful, and staggeringly heavy — not merely in the usual sense of that word, but also in the back-breaking weight of the grief that emerges in the course of its ebbing and flowing movement.”
– NO CLEAN SINGING
” In my opinion Boghaunter are a very great sounding and original funeral doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK “Constellation Vows” – 8 out of 10. ”
– Dark Underground Music Zine
Taking inspiration from seminal acts such as Burning Witch, Neurosis, Grief and Tyranny, BOGHAUNTER’s unique brand of Doom is more or less genre bending. The band do not fit nicely in the confines of a tag like Funeral Doom, but rather strectch the boundaries creating their own brand of sonic soundscapes that balance between the beautiful and horrific. While there are moments of comparison to Doom pioneers diSEMBOWLEMENT and possibly early Mournful Congregation or Unearthly Trance, BOGHAUNTER opt for less low end and earthquaking sonic booms for more sweeping passageways and hypnotic / droning rhythms. Full listens are a must as they do not dabble in halfways – the songs are journeys that must be experienced from beginning to end, weaving and winding like a meandering stream eventually finding it’s way to the mouth’s opening. Combining the scathing and visceral with the ethereal and serene, BOGHAUNTER are redefining the DOOM genre.
